Plum jam and other things

Greetings!

Just thought I would update here.  Last week, it was sort of a
busy week, at least that is how it seemed sometimes.  Our
neighbours yellow plum tree was just full of fruit, so I had a bag full
of plums which I turned into jam.  It was my first time making
plum jam and it tastes delicious.  A tiny bit of a tang, but that
will be nice.  I was able to can 16 jars.  A nice new flavour
to add to the collection of just strawberry, peach and raspberry.

The finished product.  πŸ™‚

I also bake 10 loaves of zucchini bread!  As you can imagin I had
zucchini to use up!  I'm hoping to pick them while much smaller
this week.  That way I can use them up faster.  Not so much
to ahve to eat.  I like zucchini, i really like to slice them,
then dipped them in egg and then flour seasoned with some herbs and
spice and then fry.  Simple delicious!!  Then sort of stir
fried with tomatoes and seasoninfg is good.  My children like
zucchinin best in the bread or muffins.  Oh, I also like to use
for one of the toppings on pizza.

Here are 5 of the loaves…

I also had some corn given to me to freeze and then I was busy with all of the other cares a momy has to take care of.  πŸ™‚

Now for this week, I must order our school books for Sarah!

Now before you all think I must be a super woman, I'm not!!  Maybe
none of you have thought that.  πŸ™‚  I have some moments to
read, and lately I have gotten back into reading my Bible every
day.  Such a blessing!!  his morning I was feeling really
stressed and was not a happy mommy.  Then for my Bible reading I
was to read Luke 10, well at the end of the chapter is the story about
Mary and Martha.  Did I ever need to read the words that Jesus
spoke to Martha!  “
I'll just type the whole story out here for you all, I don't mind rereading it again, since I was so blessed by it this morning.

“Now
it came to pass, as they went, that He entered into a certain villige:
and a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house. And she
had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet and heard His
word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving and came to Him and
said, Lord do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone?
Bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto
her, Martha, Martha, thou are careful and troubled about many
things:  But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good
part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:30-42

This morning I was trying to get our food for the day packed ( we were
going to be out for the day) and I was just feeling so stressful.
Then the children had lost something so I had to spend some time trying
to help them find it (which we were unable to find) and I was just not
feeling very happy.  😦  Anyway I read that and the Lord just
spoke to my heart.  After that I was able to pray and ask for
forgivness and the we ended up having a very pleasant day!  God is
good!!

May the Lord bless all of you mommys with wisdom and strength to do all the task we mommys must do!!  God bless you all!!!

  1. The goodies look delicious and I love the new picture! I know what you mean about “those sort” of days :). Don’t you love it when God sends a special “note” from His word your way just when you need it? I think all we mommies need to post that story throughout our homes…”write it on the posts of our house” (Deut. 6:9), etc. :)…

  2. Thanks Shelby!

It was such an encouragment to me when I read that (about Martha and Mary) and was so blessed!! I love it when the Lord sends encouragment. πŸ™‚

  3. Can you give me the recipe for plum jam? I new to the whole canning thing and I would like to make other flavors of jam. So far I made, apricot, strawberry and peach jam. They haven’t been perfect but with practice, they will be just right.

  4. Sorry I didn’t take time to comment sooner πŸ™‚ Just wanted to let you know I enjoyed your post πŸ™‚
